      Visit the museum during Salem’s So Sweet and join us on a tour exclusively for new members. Anyone who joins or renews as a PEM member on February 8 can sign up to explore “Objects of Love” across our galleries with Curators Ruthie Dibble and Lan Morgan. Examine artworks from diverse cultures and time periods and discover their stories of affection, devotion and even a little heartbreak.

      Sign up at our membership table and choose your tour at 11 am or 1 pm. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to 15 people per tour, so stop by early!

      About our collaborators

      Ruthie Dibble
      Ruthie Dibble

      Ruthie Dibble (the Robert N. Shapiro Curator of American Decorative Art) specializes in American and British decorative arts from the 18th century to the present. Her curatorial work expands the field of American decorative arts by examining the global circulation of objects, the relationship between craft and identity and the role of craftspeople as agents of social change. Emphasizing collaboration and community connection, her curatorial projects empower diverse perspectives and audiences. At PEM, Dibble oversees one of the country’s preeminent American decorative arts collections, featuring exceptional holdings of furniture, furnishings and works of material culture.

      Lan Morgan
      Lan Morgan

      Lan Morgan (Associate Curator) joined PEM in 2018 and works across the American Decorative Art, South Asian Art and Asian Export collections. She curated or co-curated Spirits: Tsherin Sherpa with Robert Beer; and Gu Wenda: United Nations, and served as assistant curator for On This Ground: Being and Belonging in America and the 2020 installation of the South Asian Art gallery. Her work on PEM’s Asian Export Art gallery received the 2020 Exhibition Award from the Association of American Art Curators. Morgan’s research interests include crosscultural exchange in the decorative arts, New England material culture and early modern portraiture traditions.
