The Peabody Essex Museum is a registered not-for-profit organization in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is supported by endowments, gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations as well as state and federal grants. The museum also gets revenue from admissions, memberships, space rentals for events and merchandise sales. PEM is led by a Director and is privately administered for the public benefit by a Board of Trustees. The museum is committed to financial transparency and its financial filings are available to the public.
