      Lan Morgan, Assistant Curator

      Lan Morgan joined PEM in 2018 and works across the American Decorative Art, South Asian Art, and Asian Export collections. Most recently at PEM, she served as lead curator for the February 2023 opening of Spirits: Tsherin Sherpa with Robert Beer, and co-curator of the spring 2023 exhibition Gu Wenda: United Nations. Morgan served as the Assistant Curator for the 2022 Putnam Gallery of Native American and American Art, On This Ground: Being and Belonging in America and the 2020 South Asian Art Gallery. Her work on PEM’s Asian Export Art gallery received the 2020 Exhibition Award from the Association of American Art Curators.

      Morgan holds a BA in Communication and Art History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and an MA from the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture. She formerly worked as a curatorial fellow at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art and in the European Decorative Arts department at Sotheby’s, New York. Morgan’s research interests include cross-cultural exchange in the decorative arts, New England material culture, and early modern portraiture traditions.
