On the weekends



  1. Drop-in Art Making
    Drop-in Art Making

    Saturdays and Sundays from 1-3pm (and select Monday holidays), come to the Art & Nature Center galleries to investigate and create art inspired by the natural world. Each month we explore a different scientific phenomenon and art-making process. Drop-in Art Making is free with admission and designed for budding artists of all ages.

  2. Story Trails
    Story Trails

    Once a month, explore a PEM gallery or special exhibition with our Art & Nature Center team or a guest artist/presenter through a participatory read-aloud, related artwork, and art-making project. Story Trails is designed especially for children ages 5-8 with an accompanying adult. To participate, please check in at the front desk to get your free ticket.

  3. Gallery Experiences
    Gallery Experiences

    Select Saturdays and Sundays, explore exhibits in depth through activities like storytelling, object handling, art-making, and game playing. Gallery Experiences are designed for all ages and are free with admission.

  4. Studio Discoveries
    Studio Discoveries

    Join us in our studios to explore art-making and art materials in depth with professional artists. Our Studio Discoveries are designed for kids of all ages to get creative and sometimes messy! No reservations required, included with museum admission.


During the week


  1. PEM Pals
    PEM Pals

    Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:30am, join us in our light filled atrium to enjoy books, movement, music, art and hands-on activities. Designed for preschoolers and their caregivers, PEM Pals engages and excites all the senses. PEM Pals is free with admission and does not require a reservation.

  2. School Vacation Week
    School Vacation Week

    During Massachusetts public school vacation weeks in February and April, artists of all ages are invited to make and explore! Activities are free with admission.
