Location: Main Atrium, Create Space Studios

Join us in honoring Indigenous Peoples Day and celebrating Native American arts and culture. Learn about the history of wampum and its use in traditional art forms practiced by Northeastern Indigenous nations such as the Wampanoag, Massachusett and Narragansett peoples. Practice weaving techniques with a large-scale, woven paper mural inspired by wampum belts and design your own beaded bracelet to carry as a reminder of solidarity with Indigenous communities and the land.

After your art-making session, be sure to check out the works by past and present Native American artists on view in On This Ground: Being and Belonging.
