GenPEM Artists from Home Q&A with Geoffrey Baptiste

Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 5-6 pm

Tune in for a lively conversation with creator Geoffrey Baptiste, Associate Director – Multisensory Experience and Curator of the Present Tense Trevor Smith and Major Gifts Officer Kerry Schneider. Baptiste’s work spans across the worlds of lifestyle documentary and editorial fashion, working primarily in an analog process. At his core, he is a portraitist, striving to capture honesty within his subjects — an honesty through which he aims to showcase his own beliefs. As a child of Haitian immigrants, he tends to focus his lens on subjects that embody his own story and eclectic range of interests, oftentimes highlighting other BIPOC artists with the goal of creating aspirational imagery for people who exist in marginalized communities. His ability to connect with his subjects each and every time he gets behind the camera allows viewers to feel a sense of familiarity with characters they may never know.

Geoffrey Baptiste was nominated for GenPEM Artists from Home by the previous speaker OJ Slaughter. Details about how to join via Zoom will be sent after you RSVP.
