About our Collaborator
Queen Allotey-Pappoe is an award-winning sustainable fashion designer born and raised in Accra, Ghana. She moved to England to further her education and finally to Boston, where she worked in the nonprofit space before transitioning to study Fashion Design at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MASSART). She currently lives with her family in Littleton, Massachusetts, and is the CEO and artist behind the Queen Adeline sustainable fashion brand. Queen Adeline creates “functional, wearable art”: a line of ready-to-wear and custom pieces that incorporate biodegradable textiles sourced from Ghana. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted, versatile and timeless, designed for year-round wear to minimize waste. Queen's work strives to preserve local artistry and craftsmanship while sustaining communities, paying homage to her African roots.
Queen also consults and speaks on topics related to sustainability, design, entrepreneurship and empowerment and has taught fashion design at MASSART and the Rhode Island School of Design. In 2021, she was a featured exhibitor in the Smithsonian exhibition Craft Optimism, celebrating creative ideas for responding to climate change. She sits on the Board of Trustees of the Society of Arts and Crafts, Boston. You can find her work in her online shop, in the PEM Shop and at the Queen Adeline Studio/Showroom at the Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Follow Queen @queenadelinecollection
