For the 4th of July, tear and cut to create a piece of artwork depicting the United States' national bird.

The bald eagle has a long history in North America. Abundant before European colonization, the birds’ population dangerously declined due to hunting, pesticide use and habitat loss. But by the early 2000s, thanks to changing laws, pesticide bans and dedicated work by scientists and everyday people, the bald eagle population had recovered enough that this national symbol could be taken off the endangered species list.

Regular Drop-in Art Making is held in person Friday–Sunday and holiday Mondays in our Create Space studios. Friday art making is recommended for ages 10 and up, while weekend and holiday activities are suitable for ages 4 and up. Activities are created and led by PEM art educators.
