Artist Edmonia Lewis moved continually throughout her life, living in upstate New York, Ohio, Boston, London and Rome, searching for a place where she could thrive as an individual and artist. We invite visitors to reflect on their own identity and search for community, drawing inspiration from Lewis’ life as well as the enduring ideals of justice, equality and inclusion. Make your own collagraph printmaking plate with a word of belonging, or find one made by a community member that speaks to you.

RAW is a youth arts organization rooted in art therapy.  At its core, RAW believes that all kids should be seen and heard and that everyone has a story to tell. Located in Lynn, Massachusetts, RAW offers a variety of free programming from painting to filmmaking for kids in grades 4-12. RAW uses art to ask kids “What’s really going on?” in their lives, giving them the tools to create in unexpected ways, and envision new possibilities for their future.

Regular Drop-in Art Making is held in person Friday–Sunday and holiday Mondays in our Create Space studios. Friday art making is recommended for ages 10 and up, while weekend and holiday activities are suitable for ages 4 and up. Activities are created and led by PEM art educators.
