      Join us for a presentation and reception celebrating the 2025 Artists for Humanity Fellows. These multidisciplinary artists will share new works made over the course of their fellowship in response to their own sustainability research and their preview of Andrew Gn: Fashioning the World, on view at PEM beginning September 13.

      About The 2025 AFH Artist Fellowship

      Artists for Humanity’s 2025 Artist Fellowship supports Boston-area artists, including two AFH alumni, to create a body of work based in sustainable art practices. This year’s cohort celebrates the work of Shima Taj Bakhsh, Free Marseille, Genna Medina-Cook, Tanya Nixon-Silberg and Haniel Wides. Through AFH’s third fellowship, the organization continues to build equity and opportunity for diverse artists in the Greater Boston arts community, and to expand and grow supportive networks for AFH fellows, enrich the community and expand AFH’s impact.       The work of these five fellows is focused on sustainability, from reducing waste and honoring the history of reclaimed or organic materials, to developing practices that promote enduring change on a personal, community and global level. In this way, sustainable creation becomes a dual exercise in artistic expression and ethical responsibility. Each of these artists were chosen for their relationship with sustainable art practices and their ability to create work that is rooted not only in aesthetics but also in research, discovery, questioning and responsible innovation. Their work challenges them to reduce harm while maximizing positive impact, requiring them to rethink materials in ways that respect both the environment and our larger community. The fellows are mentored by v. nico d’entremont, a trans-disciplinary artist and visual storyteller whose innovative practice blends sculpture, performance and social engagement. This 9-month fellowship offers a transformative opportunity for our five fellows to work with d’entremont to refine their artistic research process and vision as sustainable creators as they develop a meaningful body of work and produce a final exhibition.
