Summer Studios

This year we are offering one session of our popular weeklong summer program (formerly known as Arts Adventures Club) for children and youth. Registration is now open.

Week 1 | August 7–11

9 am–3 pm | Ages 7-10

Registration is closed

Explore a wide range of old-school and new-school art-making processes, from casting to printmaking in PEM's Summer Studios (formerly known as Arts Adventures Club)! Taking inspiration from PEM's exhibitions and guest presenters, create your own limited-edition series and unique masterpieces, and show off your work in your very own museum exhibition!

Learn how the moon inspires innovation in art and science in Lunar Attraction, peer into the heyday of Art Deco in Ocean Liners: Glamour, Speed, and Style, and be one of the first to see "It's Alive!" Classic Horror and Sci-Fi Art from the Kirk Hammett Collection.

In addition to experimenting in hands-on studio explorations, we will play games and adventure outside to our beautiful garden at Ropes Mansion. How will PEM inspire you?

FAQ's

What will my child do in the program?
Summer Studios consists of several hands-on art and design studio explorations, in addition to conversations and games that work together to foster creativity, critical thinking and a sense of play. Enrollees will participate in guided discussions of our special exhibitions and permanent collections, and enjoy presentations by guest speakers. If weather allows, students will adventure outdoors to the Salem Common and to our beautiful garden at Ropes Mansion. Each week will culminate in a closing exhibition, where parents and guests of the students can view and learn about their child's work.

Should my child bring a lunch?
Yes. Lunch will not be provided. We also recommend that you provide your child or youth with two snacks. As a tree-nut and peanut-allergy aware institution, we ask parents to avoid sending any food containing tree nuts or peanuts to the museum. We cannot guarantee that the environment is 100% tree nut and peanut free, but we aim to support families in managing their child's medical needs.

Do you offer early drop-off or late pick-up?
No. We are not currently offering early drop-off or late pick-up. Drop-off will be from 8:45– 9:15 am and pick-up will be from 2:45–3:15 pm.

What is your cancellation policy?
A 75% refund will be issued for cancellations made 31 days prior to the first day of that program week. No refunds will be issued within the 30 days before program start date. Weekly deadlines listed below. Last day for a partial refund for Week 1: July 7
