This not-so-spooky tour with curator Jane Winchell will highlight fascinating facts about bats and our connections with these nocturnal creatures explored through art, inventions, pop culture and Halloween decorations.

About the Curator

Jane Winchell curated the Bats! exhibition and has been the director of PEM's Dotty Brown Art & Nature Center (ANC) since its founding in 2003. Starting as curator of Natural History, she led the visioning and development of the museum’s original Art & Nature Center, the redesigned and expanded ANC that opened in 2013, and the installation of The Pod, which opened in March 2019. During her tenure, Jane has directed the programming for the ANC and curated over 20 interdisciplinary and wide-ranging exhibitions for the museum focused on our evolving relationship with the more-than-human world. Since 2021, she has also been spearheading the museum’s Climate + Environment Initiative that features a series of exhibitions, programs, and institutional undertakings to help address the planetary crisis.
