Printing Workshop

Sidney Berger, The Ann C. Pingree Director of the Phillips Library, shows how Gutenberg created the printing type that he used to print his Bible, the first book printed in the West from moveable type. See Gutenberg's invention, the adjustable mold, and watch how the type is cast. Then, using a craft that has been in place since before 1450, cast your own piece of type to take home.
