Associate Director of Integrated Media
We are seeking an extremely creative, strategic, and progressive thinker to be part of our award-winning Integrated Media Department. In November 2011 PEM announced a $650 million Campaign to advance the museum's mission. The Campaign includes $200 million for a 175,000-square-foot expansion including $100 million to support creative new installations of the collection and several infrastructure improvements to existing facilities.
Reporting to the Director of Integrated Media, the Associate Director of Integrated Media develops and manages a wide range of media projects, with an emphasis on temporary exhibitions and the reinterpretation and reinstallation of PEM collections. The position is also responsible for ensuring that all assigned projects -- web, audio, and video -- effectively convey an appropriate and consistent image of the Museum. The position engages and manages freelance professionals, including cinematographers, audio-visual production specialists, and web designers, to produce museum related media. The successful candidate will ensure accurate project budgets, good project management, high production quality, and overall interpretive cohesion. This is a five-year term position that will last through the completion of the Museum's 2017 expansion project.
The position requires at least five years of experience in a fast-paced production environment directing video and web projects. A strong interest in art and experience working in an art museum setting are highly desirable. Excellent collaborative and communication skills, strong project management experience, editorial skills and attention to detail are required. Must possess a strong interest in social media style interaction, a familiarity with user experience trends, and desire and capacity to explore progressive design ideas. Candidates must also be technically savvy, working with a variety of software programs and platforms. Candidates must have a BA or BFA degree in graphic design, film/video production, digital media or a related artistic field, or relevant combination of education and experience.
