Education and Interpretation Editor
We are seeking a talented and strategic thinker to fill the newly created position of Education and Interpretation Editor. This is a 5 year term position and will be part of a dedicated interpretation team, participating in multiple core exhibition installation project teams across the expansion project, and working closely with the education program developers. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Interpretation, the Editor will be responsible for editing all interpretive and educational material relating to the expansion project, associated educational programs and other programs as assigned. This position will work closely with the Exhibitions and Research Editor and with Curatorial, Design, Creative Services and Integrated Media. The successful candidate should enjoy working in a mission-driven, highly creative environment of a rapidly evolving, expanding and ambitious institution.
The position requires; writing for different voices, tone, and audiences, including educational material and arts publishing; excellent attention to detail and copy-editing skills; good eye for design and understanding of learning and communication design; familiarity with the process of developing exhibition and/or educational content; and a passion for conveying the world of art, art history and our rich cultural history to diverse audiences.
A Bachelor's degree required, with an advanced degree in a relevant field and a background with art and art history strongly preferred. The Editor must have proven problem-solving and planning capabilities, attention to detail, the ability to successfully manage various relationships within the museum and externally; outstanding oral and written communication skills.
